Best Outpatient Alcohol Rehab in California| Magnolia Recovery California
We are proud to be amongst Los Angeles and California’s top-rated rehab and recovery centers, offering holistic therapies alongside evidence-based treatments. We provide a safe and healing environment as you go through the process of rehabilitation and travel on your path to recovery. We understand that addiction, also called substance use disorder, is a disease of the mind as cancer is a disease of the body. Both conditions can be managed into remission with appropriate care, support, and medications. Many Americans still believe addiction is a choice despite abundant evidence proving otherwise. You may be holding on to guilt and shame, blaming yourself for your current situation. At Magnolia, you will learn to let go of those negative thoughts and understand the factors in your life that have contributed to the development of this disease.
Alcohol Rehab That Allows You To Still Go To Work & School
If responsibilities like school, work, or child care are holding you back from the recovery process you will be glad to know that you can still work and attend a rehab program. One of the reasons Magnolia is a top-rated rehab facility in Los Angeles is that we tailor a recovery program with your specific needs in mind. Every person is unique in their lived experiences, and every treatment program should be unique to that person. Your case manager will work with you to organize therapy sessions around your obligations, allowing you to continue working to support your family.
Benefits of Outpatient Alcohol Rehab
The most obvious benefit of rehab is of course freeing yourself from the power drinking has exerted on your life, but there are other benefits too, such as:
- Works with inpatient rehab. If you have completed an inpatient rehab stay an outpatient rehab program is the perfect follow-up treatment to provide a smooth transition to long-term recovery.
- Privacy. If you are concerned about people finding out you’re in rehab an outpatient treatment program allows you to return home at night, preventing questions about absences.
- Lower costs. Inpatient care programs can be costly without insurance, an outpatient program is a less expensive but still effective treatment option.
- Flexibility. Unlike an inpatient program, where therapy takes place during normal working hours, outpatient programs are scheduled around your work or school commitments.
What To Expect During Outpatient Rehab
When you make contact with our admissions specialists and enter into our care a comprehensive interview will be conducted. During this interview, an intensive and thorough history of your substance use, family history of substance use, and any co-occurring disorders will be documented. It is relatively common for people with mood disorders or other types of mental health disorders to develop an addiction. Both need to be treated to set you up for long-term recovery. Our therapies are also trauma-informed, taking into account your past lived experiences, and learning how to let go of the fear and anger you may still harbor within you. These are all deeply personal things to talk about, which is why our staff are experts in establishing a safe environment for you to do so. You can expect to answer questions like:
- How stressful has your life been for the past month due to substance use?
- How often has your substance use caused you to miss or cancel obligations and activities in the past month?
- How often do you use alcohol or drugs?
- Do you have children, and do you have custody?
- Have you ever been arrested for substance use offenses like a DUI?
- How would you rate your health and wellness?
- How happy are you with your life?
- How happy are you with yourself?
How Long Does Outpatient Rehab Last With Magnolia?
This is an excellent question, and the short answer is as long as you need it to last. Every person will progress through therapy at a different pace, and your case manager at Magnolia will help you determine what your needs are, and what is an appropriate timeline for your recovery. Many people in recovery from addiction continue to meet with peer support groups long after their rehabilitation program has ended. Many of our clients maintain contact with us for years after treatment. When you complete treatment with us you will be able to participate in our alumni events, finding solidarity with those who have also fought hard-won battles with addiction.
IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program)
An IOP is a great choice for someone living in a safe and supportive home environment, where there is no pressure to consume alcohol or other triggers that may cause relapse. During IOP you can expect to participate in different types of therapies for anywhere between 6 to 20 hours a week, depending on individual needs. You’ll have both individual and group therapy sessions with a highly qualified and experienced therapist, holding at least a graduate degree in their respective field. Group therapy is known to be particularly effective in recovery, oftentimes addiction keeps us isolated, thinking that there is no hope or help available to us. Group therapy offers a chance to see that you are not alone in your battle with substance use disorder addiction affects over 20 million Americans at any given time.
PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program)
Participating in a PHP is very similar to an IOP in terms of the types of therapies offered, with the main difference being the time commitment. Someone participating in a PHP will spend the majority of their day in treatment at the facility, and go home in the evening. You can expect to spend roughly 4 to 8 hours a day, 5 days a week in therapy when participating in PHP. A PHP is a good choice for someone who has completed a residential treatment stay and requires more support to maintain sobriety or someone who has experienced severe addiction. During PHP you’ll attend daily therapy sessions that include
- Talk therapy
- Cognitive behavioral therapy
- Family therapy
- Relapse prevention
- Dialectical behavioral therapy
- Anger management
- Distress tolerance
- Denial management
- Mindfulness
- Nutrition counseling
- Art therapy
- Interpersonal relationship skills
- Yoga
Which Outpatient Treatment, IOP or PHP Is Right For Me?
Although the main difference between both programs is the time commitment, there are some factors that your case manager will discuss with you when selecting the most appropriate program for your needs. As mentioned above an IOP is a good choice for someone that has a supportive and safe environment, is experiencing moderate to mild addiction, and can’t take time off from work or childcare. A PHP is a good choice for anyone experiencing moderate to severe addiction and who requires a higher level of support. PHPs are often recommended as a transition from an inpatient stay, or if a patient has a high risk of relapse. Ultimately it is up to you to choose your path to recovery, and you remain in charge of your healing at all times during treatment.
